New Lakapooki Arrivals: Pack your Lunch in Style!

Just arrived at the Tin Box are a selection of Lakapooki products! Lakapooki, a family-owned and operated business, based in Oakville, Ontario, excels at providing award-winning and innovative products to Canadians. Moreover, they focus on offering environmentally conscious designs and giving back to Canadians through organizations that help children and others in the community maximize their potential.

One of the terrific Lakapooki products that just arrived in stock is the Itzy Ritzy Reusable Snack Bag. With a focus on function and fantastic designs as well as pure fun, these bags are composed of an eco-friendly bamboo fabric that feels much like silk. Beside being grown in a sustainable manner without the use of pesticides, this fabric is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-microbial.

Itzy Ritzy bags feature a zipper closure, a waterproof PVC-free lining, and are machine washable. They will fit  a 7" by 7" inch sandwich perfectly, as well as being an ideal holder for other items including fruit, snacks, cosmetics, cell phones or iPods, and other small items. Itzy Ritzy bags can be carried alone or fit perfectly into a backpack or handbag.

Lakapooki also brings us the Goodbyn and Bynto lunch boxes. Easy to open, with a built-in handle, separate compartments, included water bottle, and a super-fun sticker set, these truly are the ultimate lunch boxes.

The Bynto has five separate compartments, each of which seal individually to prevent food from spilling and mixing into other compartments, and eliminate the need for any wasteful plastic bags in your lunchbox.

The Goodbyn, the smaller counterpart of the Bynto, features three compartments, and is perfect for smaller lunches or snacks.

Both the Bynto and Goodbyn are made of FDA-Approved materials and are 100% recyclable! The hundreds of stickers included with both lunchboxes allow them to be creatively individualized by the little ones.

Cate and Levi Puppets!

Handmade in Toronto by creator and dad, Josh Title, Cate and Levi puppets have just arrived at the Tin Box! Title's vision was to offer intricately crafted and uniquely designed puppets that are also made in an environmentally conscious manner, and he has certainly succeeded!
Beside the fact that they are tonnes of fun, the great thing about Cate and Levi puppets is that they are fashioned completely from reclaimed wool! And, because they are made from recycled materials, no two puppets are the same meaning that each puppet has unique colors and patterns. As well, a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of each puppet is donated to charities that help provide assistance and support to children in need.
With walruses, giraffes, cats, dogs, parrots, and even a moose, we hope you have the opportunity to discover these wonderful puppets in store!

Adorable Agate Jewelry!

Here at the Tin Box, we'd like to feature a gorgeous style available exclusively at our High Street location! These retro agate pieces are great for a fun "sophisticated hippy" look!

The rich hues of dyed agates combine with gold in a bold yet refined statement!
Add an equally beautiful bangle or a great pair of earrings to complete your look!
These great pieces add the perfect splash of color to your wardrobe as it transitions into the darker more muted fall tones, and are wonderful with a chunky knit sweater and leggings or jeans and a tee!

Fabulous and Feathery Fall Accessories!

New to all Tin Box locations are the lovely feather creations of Monague. From long flowing hair clips and earrings, to delicate accents in the form of barrettes, Monague offers a style to suit everyone.
Each Monague piece is handcrafted by First Nations' artisans in British Columbia using methods that have been passed down through generations. Various domestic feathers and hides are selected and dyes to create vibrant teal, fuchsia, and emerald hues that combine perfectly with their earthen-hued non-dyed counterparts.
Feathers are definitely a hit this fall, and Monague certainly offers fantastic quality and style!

The Books of the Box!

Here at the Tin Box we know that back to school rules! So, with that in mind we figured, why not hit the books?
Our first course includes "My First Dictionary", expertly compiled by Ross Horsely. "Corrupting young minds one word at a time", from abandon and bittersweet to vodka and zigzag, this book sardonically reveals the subtly understood but often unspoken meanings behind many of our favorite words!
And now that you've got the words down, you'll need to know how to use them in conjunction with today's technology...and, perhaps more importantly, how not to! In that spirit, our second class will feature "Damn You, Autocorrect!", by Jillian Madison. This compendium of "awesomely embarrassing text messages you didn't mean to send" will assist you in learning the ins and outs and ups and down-down-downs of text messaging with Autocorrect and all the hilarious faux pas that can completely alter the meanings of those well intended messages!
For a more in depth discussion of failed texting, we look to the prime examples provided by our parents! In "When Parents Text", coauthored by Lauren Kaelin and Sophia Fraioli, examples of the "befuddled meeting the bewildered" are aptly showcased! Never has "so much been said and so little understood" in these hapless but wholehearted attempts at keeping up with the kids!
After a brief lunch break, our fourth class will commence with a discussion of the comic things nobody would ever say without the influence of that substance known as alcohol! In Kathleen Go's "Things Drunk People Say" boozing social butterflies are quoted at their best.
Finally, the recommended reading for our last lesson (if you aren't asleep at your desk!) is Bill Shapiro's "Other People's Love Letters: 150 Letters You Were Never Meant to See". This book offers a voyeuristic exploration of real love letters, the honest, funny, guilty, heart-wrenching and everything in between. A consummate study tool for explaining and amending all those communication breakdowns, this one is definitely required reading for everybody!

Drop by the Tin Box and check out these and other comical, informative and purely pointless but ever so interesting books that are on our reading list!
